Horace Mann/NEA-SB Crystal Apple Award

The Horace Mann Insurance Company has served educators for many years. They believe that teachers are an under-appreciated group; as a result, they are providing the opportunity for our local Association to give one or more Crystal Apple Awards at our annual retirement banquet.

The criteria for this award has been established by our local Association. Any member may nominate another member for this award. A committee will select the winner(s) from those
nominated based upon the following criteria:

1. The educator is a positive role model for students.
2. The educator makes positive contributions to the teaching profession.
3. The educator may not necessarily be a classroom teacher, but is a part of the teachers’ bargaining unit.
4. The educator is a member of NEA-South Bend.

The educator should be an exceptional example for other educators. In the past, nominations have been received in which the statement did not distinguish the individual nominated from any other good teacher. To nominate a colleague for this award, click here for the nomination form. Write a 250-word or less description about how the nominee meets the above criteria. Return this form and the description to the NEA-South Bend office by 4:00 p.m.,
